Project Description
Nestled within the verdant surrounds of Muthaiga, Nairobi, this contemporary residence stands as a testament to modern architectural ingenuity. Completed in 2021, the house occupies a plot with a unique, skewed shape and a gradual slope towards its lower boundary, affording captivating vistas of the nearby Karura Forest. Inspired by the traditional essence of a central outdoor courtyard that functions as the living space during the day in many of the traditional african homesteads, the design ethos of this project seamlessly blends the past with the present lifestyle requirements. Embracing the site’s slope, the concept transforms challenges into spatial opportunities. A modest facade extends a warm invitation, blending harmoniously with the lush landscape.
Designed for four ensuite bedrooms, the layout seamlessly integrates kitchen, dining, and living areas. A tranquil pool linked to the master bedroom serves as a courtyard oasis. While the lower floor caters for an entertainment room on one side and the three other ensuite bedrooms.
The landscape design creates a fluid transition between built and natural environments. Stepped gardens provide intimacy, while a pavilion offers a serene retreat.
Refined materials, from plaster to dark grey textures, instill modern allure. Timber floor and accents warm the space, while stone elements blend indoor and outdoor areas seamlessly.
